this project hasn't failed but it hasn't amounted to as much as it should have.

suggestion: abandon this project and begin a new one with a larger team.

Concept;

-Opposing Force/Counter-Strike CZ/Team Fortress weapons with available slots for additional weapons/etc. as the project develops.

-Massive SP/CO-OP capability with casual in game option of team-killer death-matching.

-Totally new Sounds scheme [never again shall we hear the name "Gordon"].

-Huge web of classic maps edited for linking, crossing over the physical worlds of half-life/opposing force/blue shift/case closed/etc., with bases/flags/bomb sites/hostage rescue points/sniper perches and so on.

-Massive cast of characters.

-First Person/Third Person perspective toggle switch.

-Difficulty settings optional in CO-OP/DM; Weapons/Health/Armour/Enemies - Stronger/Weaker, Armory/Ammo Load - Higher/Lower.

I have a million and one very flexible ideas, but I'm not a techy.

there already is a mod that combines counter strike source weapons with half life 2 gameplay. check the listings. its set in the half life 2 universe, not the half life 1 universe

i can't find the cs wad files in the counterstrike folder

C:\Program Files\Valve\ Steam\SteamApps\me\ counter-strike\cstrike

there is only tempdecals.wad

should i use that?

saw "thank you for smoking" in the cinema. fun film, terrible message. just so you know "people should be allowed to choose to smoke" is not the message of the film, the real message of the film is "public relations sharks and political lobbyist ******** are not bad people at all, in fact they are all attractive, funny, clever people". good jokes don't compensate for a film being a heap of brain washing and condescension. and i do smoke. the only thing worse than someone annoying you about your smoking, is someone offering you a cigarette when you have already told them you are trying to quit. smoking is awful and that film makes a lot of excuses for the tobacco industry. i generally boycott the reitmans

already mentioned those ages ago. it'd be nice to think they'll turn up in version 1.0

a few points;

1. nihilanth get stuck. i killed him and he just hovered in the air, shooting off sparks and lights and not doing anything else.

2. the ammo packs in xen either contain nothing [most of the time] or either a few shotgun shells or some 9mm ammo.

3. jenn's m4 blaster thingy is very funny looking, but i find it kind of annoying. maybe haunter thinks its cool, because the months and years of working on this mod have driven him crazy, but it just doesn't feel right. there's got to be a more suitable model for this crazy *** weapon, if not, too bad.

4. why not link the available cl6 maps to the black mesa map set? FILEPLANET have a modified version of UPLINK [the old hl1 demo] that links teleporters in c3a2c/f. I added it and it has vastly increased my enjoyment of CL. there are however no chargers/buy menus in the cl6 maps, which is an awful shame!

thats all well and good but for some wacky reason i have no console, as such.
i can only activate it in the front menu, if i press [~] in-game, it comes down but disappears if i try to type anything.
the problem is circumvented, thankfully, but if anyone has any tips about what might be worng with my console, please let me know.

and if anyone can recommend any good sp maps to go with this mod, post some info, for the love of god! i'm so tired of black mesa

haven't played very far in yet. pretty good so far. any chance of a fresh map pack, i'm sick to death of black mesa, somewhere new would be tasty.
i mentioned earlier that it was jamming in the early levels. i tried playing again [maybe it was because i played on easy and not normal] and this time the level ran okay, no glitches. when it failed to operate, the scientists were standing around doing nothing, the elevators and doors were already open and the disaster had already happened in the test chamber. fyi
and a tip to players trying to find the new weapon; its bloody obvious, when you think about it! thought about it yet? huh? almost figured it out? you got it? no? you're an idiot.

big problem;

i go to the locker room and get the vest/suit, i go all the way down to the test chamber and can't get in. there is nothing to do. i go all the way back to the lobby and *crash*

what am i supposed to do?

lots of nice new touches. i have been a big fan of the mod since the beginning and i like what you are doing, but i don't like how much i have to wait [which makes me a bad person; have i never thought of maybe playing something else or reading a book or playing outside? "outside"? whats that? a new mmorpg? yes, maybe]

no prob, clone. and yes, i am right . this is an excellent idea for a mod. it represents what i originally thought half life would be. but it seems as though there's only one person working on the project and they don't have the time to develop it. what would in fact be quite beautiful would be something to the effect of a merger with sven coop or something crazy like that. but in the mean time i'd settle for just more weapons maps and enemies. and also if it didn't crash before teleporting to xen . another tasty addition would be adding counter strike bot ai to human monsters, and respawning dead enemies. i didn't mention that before, did i?

in short, there should be loads of people working on this mod. that would be my ideal.

although i don't totally agree with your idea of CL:2, but only because my computer sucks and barely runs the hl2 demo.

i think the problem you are having is that you are not copying the files to your weapons folder in CL, and that you might be cutting them from your cs file. i don't know

i preferred the original weapons sounds. keep them.

there must be something really wrong with your computer, clonest, because the knife is exactly where the crobar is found in hl.

you really should hunt down your own models, if you've done it for cl then you'd still have them in some file somewhere, wouldn't you?

heres another mad idea; a minigun! not like that heap of crap in sven. think along the lines of the one from the movie predator. isn't that the movie that made everyone fall in love with miniguns?

dual smgs would have to be limted to the mac10, tmp, and maybe the mp5 and p90. the ump would probably be too heavy. all pistols would also be cool

this is definitley my favourite mod. so naturally i am going to give input, which i have done before, and some of that input will only be repeating what i, or other people, have already said, in the hopes that someone involved with the mod will notice;

Levels:
sure its wonderful that the half life levels are now playable with counter-strike weapons, but we know these levels so well that we play through them in a flash
hows about:
- half life levels beginning from map c1a1
- opposing force levels
- blue shift levels
- whatever map packs are optioned for donation and conversion
- more cs levels converted for counter life

each converted counter-strike level should contain two teleporter signals, one for arrivals, the other for departures, and should be positioned beside, or away, from each other. these maps can be teleported to from specific points in the main body of "black mesa" story maps

Weapons:
- tactical shield
- restore .357 ammunition to the p228
- dual p228's
- m60
- smoke/flashbang < brief NOTARGET effect on monsters >
- hl weapons :
- - rpg
- - 9mmar
- - 357 revolver
- - 357 eagle
- - satchel
- - shotgun
- - m249
- - wrench

heck why not chuck in the medkit from Team Fortress?

Monsters:
-Barneys should be equipped with a GLOCK18 and either an M3 or an MP5NAVY
-Scientists should be allowed pistols
-Soldiers should be allowed to carry a variety of rifles, machine guns and shotguns, limiting one weapon per soldier
-Male and Female assassins should be limited to silenced weapons {usp, tmp, m4a1} and flashbangs

HUD
0 - melee and items
1 - pistols
2 - shotguns
3 - sub machine guns
4 - assault rifles
5 - machine guns
6 - explosives

so many mods are only multiplayer or are barely even mods and in fact only map packs with only the most minor of modified gimmick or even just some jazzy installer software. many mods are only mods of the half life engine and not actually mods of half-life, as was counter strike. half life itself began life as a quake 2 mod, i'm lead to believe. and thats whats beautiful about Counter-Life; its a mod of two mods, one being a mod of the other. consistent improvement. but there's still some gaps. if those gaps get filled, counter life will manage to be what i expected half life was going to be when it was first scheduled for release ten or so years ago. but if you've read this far into my little essay then you can tell i have madly high standards.

great idea for an opening;
you wake up at some obscure point in blue shift with no armaments other than the opposing force pipe wrench and the condition zero tactical shield
great idea for an ending
you step into a teleporter and wind up on the opening train ride from half life. this leads all the way to "the test chamber" where the disaster began in half life. the disaster in the test chamber plays out, you briefly visit xen etc. etc. but instead of teleporting back to the test chamber, you wind up in c5a1, listening to the G-man talk rubbish. when he is giving you the option of stepping into the portal to accept his job offer, you discover a gun on the seat of the train car, for instance; the half life shotgun in high definition. you shoot the bastard. the end.

the new weapon sounds sound like a grasshopper sneezing in a tin can. i do admire the efforts made by the makers of this mod to make the ammo load and weapon sounds more realistic, but what the hell is so realistic about battling aliens in an underground research lab? i like my videogames and cartoons to be as far removed from reality as possible. so hows about being able to carry every gun under the sun, and a stupid ammount of ammo for each?
if it sounds like the stuff of childish day dreams, let it be the stuff of childish day dreams. aren't we all perhaps too old to be running around shooting monsters with our fingers? i certainly am, but i don't see myself stopping anytime soon.

i played an early beta of CL years ago, when only the AWP and deagle were available. i recently donwloaded beta 5, which i am very very happy with, and as soon as i finish this mail, i will be downloading beta 6.

just a few whiny, possibly time wasting, complaints/suggestions;

apart from being magnificent creatures in a wildlife documentary kind of way, garganutas are a pain in the ***. any chance of adding the LAW rocket from CS:CZ:DS? Pweeeeez!!! i be ya best fwend!!!!

and seeing as we're going nuts on CS:CZ weapons, hows about sticking in the Tactical Shield?

what about adding a panic reaction and temporary NOTARGET effect to any characters affetced by flash bangs?

also, levels are something of a bother. i'm an M4A1/M249 kinda guy which pretty much just makes dogmeat out of the HL soldiers and almost all other enemies. and seeing as how we're all so familiar with black mesa, it becomes a fairly short voyage from "the barrel" to Nihilanth. i've tried downloading addon levels but so many of these don't have HEV/Health chargers and so don't really accomodate CL. CLC_cbble and CLC_nuke are intersting levels, but not my favourite CS maps, and agin; they don't have health chargers. i did recently discover that Uplink can be placed inside HL, which works perfectly with CL , but the list ends there.
