Even if I lower volume in game said sounds are ludicrously loud. Any help?

So I have an issue. The shotgun sound is way too loud and so is the pistol mode where it dumps all bullets out at once. Is there any fix to this? I read something where using Audacity can help but I ain't at all familiar with that program. Like it blasts my headphones out it seems

I'm getting a "Could not load library client. Try restarting. If that doesn't work, verify the cache." I've done this and reinstalled all my Half-Life 2 games. Any help?

Is there a bug anyone is experiencing on the 2nd map of the Redemption Denied episode where the red door won't open from the other side? I go in and grab the blue key and can't leave. I dunno if I'm missing something obvious or if it's bugged...
