Hi there! My name is Wijnand Wilbers, I live in the Netherlands and I am a student wanting to become a full fledged game developer. Since the first day I can remember, I was fascinated with building things, anything really. I had no idea what sort of career I would find myself working in as an adult. I love gaming, it's my greatest passion; and I made the choice to study the art of programming, a choice, which to this day, I have not regretted.

Looks very polished indeed. I like the overall feel, the music is great too. Keep up the good work!

It is possible to run it from any folder/location. So yes It's possible to run it from an USB stick =)

You might want to just unpack the zip download to your usb stick (available on our website: www.tankatwar.com) for a more clean 'install'

Erelas Mar 5 2013, 2:59am says:

If the installer fails to run because of a missing dll, please try to install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86) first:

Another possibility is to download the zip version and manually unpack it. The zip version is available on the official website:

I'd encourage you to invite friends. Sadly, we still have a small user base as you noticed. We're implementing bots for the next small release.

We'll probably release the server to the public so people can run their own server in the future. Probably after we've added new features, game play modes & maps.

Thanks for your insight! We'd like to add multiple new game modes in the future.

We eventually might add player progression; More points to spent, Upgrades that can be unlocked (maybe per session or overall).

At the moment though, you have the option to customize your tank using 15 points, as do all the other players. I think you accidentally skipped the tank workshop menu with the default (read: weakest & slowest!) tank. Make sure you customize your tank using all available points!

Perhaps the opponent you faced did even more damage than the strongest tank gun available, but that'd mean he had 3 kills in a row and had chosen a damage power up (which is active until killed).

Actually those 'people' were not human. Those ten were bots.
Though I have to admit I found the multiple attempts (probably not just you) to join the server pretty funny, I understand your frustration.

We still have a small user base as you noticed, so we took to implementing bots.

In the meantime I'd recommend you share and play with your friends if possible =).

This is an issue with the way we load vegetation, if you turn the vegetation slider all the way down you should have some more free memory, hopefully enabling you to play smoothly.

In the future we'd like to apply instancing so it will hardly use any memory.

Did you mean you can't play at all? Or does it run with low fps?

Haha, this is a bit embarrassing. The 1.2 trailer was just finished a few minutes ago. We┬┤ve asked the Desura staff to update the video, might take a while though.

We've added some post processing effects, which I think are cause of the drop of fps in your experience. This totally depends on your GFX card.

We're working on a way for people to play without these shaders (on low settings), while making sure night vision & other shader dependent effects still work to an extend.

The latest version DirectX is 11, which came with Windows 7. However, the card you posses will only support games that can run on version 9 or lower, provided you fulfill the other requirements.

If you really want to play games I'd recommend an upgrade. This day and age you will only be able to play 'casual' browser games on that system at best.

I'm sorry, your system does not meet the minimum requirements for TANK@WAR. There is just no way to make the game run well (even if you're trying to squeeze out 10 fps) on your configuration.

Here are the system requirements for TANK@WAR:

I think the bug you are experiencing is related to compatibility issues with the game and your video card.

Could you possibly tell me what your graphics' card brand name and model number is? I'm running with a AMD Radeon HD 6870 card myself for example.

Could you also possibly try to run the game in OpenGL in stead of DirectX 9.0? you can change the render settings in the video options menu.

That's a shame. Is there any more information you could provide? What OS are you running? XP, Vista/7?

Are all your drivers up to date(, most importantly your video card driver)?

When did it freeze? In main menu/ingame/tank workshop?

Not sure about the sound bug you're experiencing, I tried multiple test cases and could not reproduce the bug.

The project is still very much alive, but you are right of course, we haven't had a news update for a while now.

The upcoming patch just keeps getting bigger, becoming more ambitious with each improvement we want to implement.

We'll try to gather all the stuff we've added and are going to implement for update 1.2 into a news post soon.

Thanks for the comment and for your interest in our game!
