This is a space battle from the game GSB, it's on sale now for dirty cheap on Steam, hopefully this video will get more people interested.
This is a battle in a scenario where shields are disabled and range for weapons is reduced by 25%. Difficulty Expert(highest).
Some info about my strategy, I sent in 5 cruisers(the biggest ship type), escorted by 2 frigates each. The cruisers were equipped with some lasery weapons of death, little armor(but high hull strength due to race advantage) with 2 kickass repair systems packed in each(these were only available to that race, combine with hull strength and it made my ships tough to beat even with no shield and crappy armor support). Additionaly an EMP cannon(fairly useless most of the battle, due to enemy EMP protection) and one of the 3 types of plasma blasters(the light fast one I think).
The enemy has fighters and the cruisers had nothing to defend themselves against them. That's where my frigates come in, each of them was armed with a fast cannon and some anti fighter rockets, at the start of the battle, my frigates get hit very hard by the fighters, but they eventually will take out the fighters, from then on, the extra packed laser cannons and frankly even the anti fighter rocket launcher will help paunch the remaining enemy frigates and cruisers into oblivion.
I find fighters relatively useless, I've seen em be really effective at times, but only after the enemy has it's armor reduced a bit. Sometimes that doesn't happen and they just keep circling an enemy frigate or even worse a cruiser which they can't even put a scratch on. Especially in this battle, where the enemy probably is likely packing more armor instead of shields this set-up worked great for me.
