Hey there. Have you thought about crowdfunding the project, or even releasing it as a standalone game?
It would solve your "We're too busy with real life and not great coders anyway" problem at least - you would be able to hire a programmer.

Also, there's so much work done, maybe you should think about putting it as a standalone game on projects like Steam Greenlight
