The most helpful comment I have ever received right here thank you. After reading through this comment I made several changes in my Nvida control panel (Like you said about the GPU it was set to "Auto" in the control panel I changed it to the Nvidia card), updated my video drivers, (Been around a month since I have) forced the game to run as an administrator, used the optimal performance settings in the Gforce experience for Mount and Blade Warband. (The only thing it had different than me was "Fast Water Reflections" And "Load Textures on Demand" both needed to be set to off.) I also turned my laptop fan up higher and closed unnecessary items in the Task Manager. I'm not sure what did it, or what combination of things did it, but the game is now running smoothly on huge battles with the battle size set to 150. I fought an empire force of 420 with 150 men and didn't receive any lag :) I attribute this success to you; Your comment got me in the right line of thinking for troubleshooting this. Thank you :)

Those features do sound nice, it will make standing out of the laggy battles not so bad. Though I'm not sure that the engine only loads what you see, I still get mostly the same lag if I look at the ground while I'm waiting for the battle to finish sadly. Seems like it's always attempts to load all the troops on the field. I hypothesize it has something specifically to with the strain fighting animations might put on the engine. I think that since it only lags badly when the troops engage not when they are in formation getting in position to fight. I greatly appreciate the replies, you are a good dev team.

Hmm I do have an antivirus program. Next time I play I will turn it off and see how things go, though I don't believe it is avg. Thank you for the suggestion.

Yep I have shadows off, everything down to lowest in fact. I had it all on highest when I started, I actually don't know if turning them down made a difference, I can't really tell. But turning the size of the battle down DEFINITELY improves performance, but lag is still intense if all of MY troops are fighting but I have noticed if I hold them back and go to thin the enemy ranks by myself on horseback I don't lag at all.

I'm not sure, I don't think its my PC. I run the Warhammer 40k mod for Dawn of War, Soulstorm, and it runs perfectly even with large amounts of units on screen. Either M&B Warband really doesn't like something about my computer or it is a limitation of the engine. I would be curious to know how many other people have this problem but I doubt I will recieve that kind of clarity. And even if I did, I don't think there is anything the team can do about an outdated engine (If that is the case)

Oh and also this is even more random but it goes with your idea of lowering troop numbers so I feel it worth mentioning. When I set the troop numbers to lowest on a siege, I find that I only end up having to fight maybe 1/3-1/5 of the garrisoned troops because we always reach the middle and 'secure' the castle or something I'm not sure but the battle ends before we have killed the amount that I saw on the world map. This is one reason I don't like setting the troop numbers so low, it's almost like cheating to me. This is especially true when fighting orcs, skaven, and tomb kings since they rely on heavy numbers and its sort of unfair to force them to send 30 alright troops against my 30 amazing troops when they actually have 400 and I have 80 somehow I still win just because of the quality of my troops. Though I understand that this is not something you can change haha. If there is no fix to the lag then I just gotta deal with it, I love this mod very much and even when lagging I enjoy it.

Yes I have tried reducing the number of units, though it still lags in large battles where the enemy constantly resupplies the small amount of troops on the battlefield. I can say it lags significantly less when I have the troop numbers down. Most of the time it runs perfectly if I tell my troops to hold position and then go fight the enemy myself, though I can only do so much damage alone (And when the enemy advances far enough I have to tell my troops to charge and pretty much stand back or try to get enemies on the edge since it lags so much). Sadly it seems whenever I get into a meaningful battle where I need my troops as well as me fighting it's lagging to much to participate :( Thanks for the fast reply

I already have them at 0 sadly, but thank you for the input.

Might seem a tad random but I had a few questions regarding performance of the mod currently, and if there is anything I can do to make it run smoother. I notice in large battles it lags pretty heavily but even at the lowest battle size setting it lags when all the units are fighting. I'm not sure if this is simply because the engine is to old and unoptimized or the mod has textures/models that take a lot of computer power to run. I'm wondering how I can make this better, or if it has inherently been made better for the next update (if it was a problem on the mod side) I did notice the most intense lag was when I had around 80 undivided champions, perhaps the model is really high poly count or something? Honestly I don't know. But I would love to know exactly what causes intense lag and how to avoid it in the future, if there is some add on I can install for warband that would help that works to. Oh, and I've already set my regular mount and blade settings to be optimal for playing. Lowest all graphics and no shadows and directX 7. Also if you're thinking my comp isn't good enough my specs are as follows. (Not the best but it gets most stuff done)

MSI GE 2PL Apache (Laptop Model)
Windows 8 64 bit
Intel Core i7-4710HQ 2.5ghz, 2.5ghz
8 GB of Ram
Nvidia GTX850M
