if it doesnt apear in the list, make sure you installed hl2dm, otherwize re-install it.

Maybe you need to install it into a different directory.

you said: does it come with it's own server i don't know how to create a server and if i do people won't join and it's not password protected.

If you create a server, its logicall that people dont join, ill explain.

When you start a server, its automaticly set to LAN, to change this, open
your console ( with the ~ button next to ur number 1)
After that, type in sv_lan 0

Now people are able to join!
