My names Vincent, from the UK. I create 3D models and animations as an hobby and to further my videogame development skills in the off chance I might one day get into the industry. Been into videogames since the age of 5 or 6 since the old CPC/BBC Micro computer days, and have always wanted to create a videogame. Currently I'm project manager and Lead designer amongst other various roles on the popular Ashura: Dark Reign modification for Unreal Tournament 2004.

2.5D gaming is the core of Sonic games. Always has. Even the demo released back in 2008 had a 2.5D section. ADR will NOT be fully based on 2.5D gameplay. It will be a mix of 2.5D and 3D esq gameplay areas with multiple branching paths.

I cannot please every fan, and from a level designers view, 3D is difficult to accomplish due to many factors.

Project is pretty much well known already. Everytime I have looked for certain types of artists to do some work, it never gets done. Only a select few has actually managed to contribute. Others have joined the team in the past and did nothing at all. Hence why I the project ends up in a perpetual state of limbo, and I have had to take on so many roles. At the current stage of the project, I prefer to get a certain amount done before showcasing it again publicly. Past videos didn't generate much of a response either. Just people who wanted to draw characters when levels and 3d skills were a main requirement.

Still alive. I've had a busy year, not had much chance to work on ADR. Recently got a PC upgrade, and been busy with work. I can assure everyone that ADR is still in production.

Strictly non-Archie. I never read those comics. May possibly add a few Archie characters, but its not on my to do list. Generations was somewhat helpful, but in terms of level design it still is difficult to make a layout that fits the overall theme of the zone. Hand..it works but not perfect.

Yes I did, I'm using Sky Sanctuary, Seaside hill, Shamar, Spagonia, Tropical Resort, Mazuri and Apotos for inspiration for this Zone. Also the Fleetway comics.

Not at the moment. I'm bouncing between coding the menu system and grinding. Both are currently giving me trouble. Things would be much faster if I had another modeler, programmer on the team. :)

Thanks. Yea its skinned and rigged. The cables are separate for now. I will be connecting those up once all the animations are done for the model, as I want the cables to move naturally on the model with the animation. So I will probably do a simulation pass and bake the animation instead of keyframing and adjusting it.

I will most likely use either vertex painting in UDK to blend the terrain and stone textures together. Or I will just instance the stone tiles (6-8 in a set) within UDK to cut down on memory usage.

I've been using an ATI Radeon X1800 XT for the past seven years. Its done quite well to last this long with what I've been doing. I'm probably gonna go for entry level card. Maybe a Geforce GT610. Money is tight at the moment, and its a plus so nobody can complain about requiring a high-end card to play the game.

Work has slowed due to real life issues and UDK becoming unusable due to the graphics card overheating too much causing my computer to freeze up/crash/ or restart. Hopefully i can get a new card next week or by the end of the month.

The plan is to add him into the multiplayer part of the game as a playable character. Though he is to cameo in the story mode.

Yea, I'm fine now, thanks for asking. Just most likely gotta have another surgery as the surgeon didn't get the exact length of the tendon correct. *Too long* I find out next week whats gonna happen, but if he does. its only the wrist and not the entire hand again. Twice is enough. a third is just too much. =)

Use big objects for distance, and keep it simple.
Play Generations, Unleashed. Or the retro games: Sonic 1 - Sonic & Knuckles to see what I mean by simple.

Something that is common to that particular level and not for others.
3D Sonic stages are no easy feat to achieve. Plus there's the issue of level size. Size has to be huge, otherwise the level will be over in a matter of seconds at Sonic boost speed. Levels need to be a minimum of 2 minutes, otherwise players complain and feel a little cheated. Another tip I can give you is make only ONE route.

Once you got that, you have your Start & Goal ring = Size of map + Time. Once achieved then start to add your multiple routes. Don't under populate areas and don't over populate with level geometry everything has to look good and well balanced.
