Greetings. there was a big problem i had running Brutal Doom on windows 10. The open gL 3.0 driver project brutality requires either doesn't work or doesn't exist yet & the game will not start via the zdl launcher. To fix this go into the config ini file and where it says vid_renderer=1...change this value to zero. (about 1/2 way down the list in the ini file) It's a work around i discovered and so far it works just fine. at least until they update all the 3rd party drivers for windows 10 anyway. My pc specs are intel g860 chipset/3.0 dual core/8 gb ram/850mb vram/windows 10 pro x64

I personally use zandronum 1.0 in portable mode on a flash drive. I like being able to play Brutal Doom on virtually any computer. I have my favorite pwads in a seperate folder so all i gotta do is place what i want to use in the skins folder and play. Zandronum and gzdoom have subtle differences so its just a matter of personal tastes. Just my 2 cents.

As far as i can tell,the game play is the same. It doesnt matter whether or not hi res sprites are used. The dying and mutilation sequences appear to be unchanged. I could be wrong though. You'll just have to play it and see for yourself. Happy fragging!

I found something called "doom sprites HD (8x) version v03" This is an unfinished hi res sprite pack but only about 1/2 are finished (zombie guy,shotgun guy,imp,pinky,cacodemon & baron of hell). But it's compatable with both gzdoom and zandronum & Brutal doom works just fine. My favorite is pinky because he looks totally evil now. Check it out if you like.

Put all the Iwad files into the game's main file directory and place the rest of the files (brutal doom,hi res textures,pwad,etc) into the skins folder. Click on zandronum and follow the directions. It will launch everything properly automatically. on first launch it will ask you to direct the game to your iwad files. But you only have to do it once. Hope this helps!

I was doing a comparison of gzdoom and zandronum. While they are basically the same there are noticable differences.
1.Zandronum revenant rockets home in but in gzdoom they dont
2.zandronum game launchers is way better & gzdoom is primitive
3.zandronum game engine is stronger & doesn't freeze or glitch
4.zandronum visual & sound effects are better
I personally use hi res textures,hi res 3-d models & real gore.
When combined with brutal doom,a few choice mega wads and metallica...the war sounds awesome on my surround sound stereo! Do yourself a favor & just use zandronum. I hope this helps y'all and sarge: YOU ROCK WELL!

This mod is simply brilliant! I have this on my flash drive as a portable app so i can take brutal doom everywhere i go and play it on any computer without leaving anything behind. All the settings and game saves are written to its own internal file structure. Sarge you are the man! Thank you for making doom so wonderfully brutal and FUN!!!
