Relic, in their panic, has released modding tools for the massively failed DOW 3. It appears as though they have abandoned the game and are stepping over its ashes in favor of AOE4.
Will you guys be modding DOW 3 and giving us the proper base building, cover-system, large non-laned mapped game that we all wanted? Or would it be too hard? (I'm obviously not a code writer)

Yep, I agree that it does look damn good and the effects are great but the actual game play is not DOW 1, it's more like DOW 2 and I can't stand any game that calls itself an RTS and forces you into lanes. I love big expansive maps where you can set up forward bases, etc and transport troops all over, set up defenses, and all that. I guess the age of the epic RTS is pretty much over these days. The only one I've seen that comes close is Paradox's Stellaris.
I agree, if they make new game modes and open up the maps for DOW 3 and feature base attacks and defenses I could see playing it again. But we'll see...in the meantime this mod will be the ultimate DOW experience.

I tried playing DOW over the weekend and it felt like a fuggin MOBA with some paltry base building elements tacked on. There is no space for you to move around on maps and place secret bases, fly spec ops teams behind enemy lines, there are just MOBA lanes. No cool fortifications to build up, i.e. there is zero defensive play opportunities. I won't even talk about the brightly colored aesthetics.

I'll gladly stick to this UA Mod until this team makes one for DOW 3 but with no lane maps and Skirmish mp modes. Relic really sold out hard.

Just wanted to say, awesome job Cylarne. Best mod I've ever played and makes DOW1 the most epic RTS, period. So many factions, so many dream matchups, and so much blood (and persistant bodies yay!). I'll be posting vid links of my games soon. Well done, sir. Makes DOW3 look even more and more retarded with its MOBA like play and goofy Disney graphics and super hyper speed. The franchise is going down with SEGA at the helm.

I agree. I just played with someone against the Tyranids. We were the Imperium forces (Sisters and IG) and got swarmed early on, just about lost the game. I won't spoil how it turned out. Instead I'll post a link to the vid once I get it up on my YT channel. Epic battle!

Amen to that. This should seriously be the top mod of the year.

Yeah I was being a bit concerned too but then I realized that they are re-doing the Sisters pretty much completely, so that's gotta take a lot of time. Hopefully it'll be out by fall or something.

Miller, stop hyperventilating. I think Cylarne is basically the second coming for putting the work into this epic mod, so zip it. All I was asking for was a schedule, why so but hurt?
I'm a creative guy as well and have to remind myself to be organized, so I'm trying to motivate him to be so as well ;)

This is my favorite SOASE mod. So much content from just one single developer? You have some serious talents my man!

Straight up man. In spite of all of the blabbering ingrates he somehow shrugs the negative whiners off and continues to deliver. My friends and I agree that this is the greatest RTS we've ever played (and that's saying a lot).

I have the exact same problem. So didn't really get your solution. How do you "verify the game cache?" and then have Steam DL it? How do you do that and does that work for the NTCore exe?

I got the new patch and also installed the NTcore exe, and played a game with a buddy. Unfortunately, the IG, Necrons, and Tau have become greyed out on my multiplayer menu, and I used to be able to play as all factions for MP (I bought everything and it's on Steam). I erased the Dark Crusade and Winter Assault expansions and reinstalled them and still nothing. Strangely, I can still play all factions in Skirmish mode just not MP now.
Any ideas what happened?

Oh...My...GOD!!!!!!! PRaise the Emperor I can play the three new races and the beautiful original 9 as well = 12 distinct races to clash against each other!!! My weekend is gone now (and much of next week as well). Damn you mod devs...damn you for making me love you and your mod so much!!!!

Well I played my first game as the Daemonhunters without knowing anything about them. I was allied with my brothers, the Space Marines, and we were pit against Chaos Daemons and Chaos Space Marines.
The CSM struck first, invading the SM base and almost wiping them out in a blitz assault. Had it not been for a contingent of my Stormstroopers, they would have folded. Just then, the Daemons attacked my front lines, but I drove them back with my basic forces and about 4 turrets.
Just as a large host of Daemons began to invade my territories, I found out how to teleport in Grey Knights (only one squad). They fought valiantly, but the malevolent hordes of Daemonkind overwhelmed us with powerful frontline troops and some form of artillery. We went down fighting.
This time, I'm going to play as my good ol' IG! I'll pick my teammate as Daemon Hunters and watch the replay so as to get a better idea on how to play them. I LOOOOOOVE their whole style and units so far though, they fit perfectly into the game, as do the Daemons.
I wonder who would win most of the time, Daemons or Tyranids...both very powerful factions!

Thanks for the input, RTS. So the baseline DH inf are Stormtroopers? Goodness, that's pretty crazy.

I'm taking it that the IG has much more armor to bring to bear than the DH? Why else would one play as the IG instead of the DH? Perhaps the IG units are cheaper and hence they are more of a swarmer faction, like the Orks and Nids?

Did you play the previous versions of the DH and if so, how did you like them?

I like playing on very slow game speed; let's me play very tactically and micro nades, powers, etc.
Can't wait for THB. So basically the D. Hunters are a cross btwn the Space Marines and IG? What is unique about them? Are their standard issue las guns more powerful, like the hotshots?

Just wanted to say that this is the most epic mod I've played in quite some time. The sheer amount of content that you guys added is astounding.

If you need some help putting together a comprehensive manual featuring all of the units, etc. let me know. I'm a professional writer. I'm sure the UA community would love to have one; I know I would.
