Winston's Creed
Inspired by Mencken's creed.
- I believe that this world is cruel and that it does not favor man anymore than it does insects.
- I believe honesty and truth to be the most important of virtues, superseded by no other, and also that these are the most telling aspects of a person's character.
- I believe that the State and the Church are societal organisms which by their very nature are evils which will attempt to oppress, control, and assimilate the general populace.
- I believe it is better to know than to be ignorant, that harsh truths are better than pleasant lies.
- I believe that all superstitions are nothing more than the wishful constructs of the human mind, and that those who prey upon the intellectual fallacies of the devout are among the most disgusting members of our species.
- I believe in the potential of the human mind to construct devices and structures that which rival the beauty and complexity of the universe.
- I believe everyone should be free to do and say as they please but thusly must naturally assume responsibility for every word spoken and every action committed.
- Finally, I believe that the meaning to one's life is their own and that a person's life which is dictated by the coercion or force of another's ambitions is nothing more than a proxy; a slave.
