Do you still remember the good old Settlers 2? Then this "Mod" (it is actually a complete rewrite of Settlers 2, only using the graphic-files of said game) is the right thing for you.

It basically lifts Settlers 2 to a modern level (i.e. HD/4k resolutions, support for modern operating systems (Windows, Linux, OS X), faster gameplay, dozens of additional addons like converting mineable resources into something else, new buildings like the charburner, much more maps than you'll see in any recent RTS, and even a complete new faction: The Babylonians).

However, one of the most important features it offers in my opinion is the ability to play online with up to 8 other players. Even more is possible.

You should also keep an eye on it, as it is still in development and new stuff is added to the game from time to time.

There are a few minor bugs like games going async, some lagging issues if someone doesn't have the best internet connection, etc. But compared to a lot of commercial early access titles released nowadays it still runs pretty well.

I really recommend you try this out, if you like building strategy games. Even if you never played the old Settlers 2, which is still available on some digital distribution platforms.
