This is what games should strive to be.

SPOILERS AHEAD!

I'd love to talk about everything, but 2000 character limit is kind of...limiting. So I'll just hit the big points.

Alright, let's start with the good things. The reasons you should play this.

First, the story and writing. It is a rare occasion when the story is a the driving force in an interactive experience. By delivering the story through narrated memories, you will be driven at just the right pace. Sometimes you will be slightly ahead, finding your own way, and other times the narration will pull you through.

The second best aspect of Newport is the actual visual design and environments. It is not only visually impressive, but also visually helpful. In a way, the lighting compliments the story, and moves you forward. The use of orange light in contrast to the dark grey world is simple yet effective. You will have a hard time getting lost and confused while navigating your way through the world.

Now for the one bad thing, which isn't really that bad considering this is a mod, and you should play it anyway if you own Crysis.

The creatures. For a moment I caught a glimpse of one of the creatures lurking near some distant trees. What I saw was only a blur, and really actually kind of frightening when combined with the sound of their howling. Unfortunately, when they were fully revealed I was a bit let down, seeing as they were just Crysis aliens.

Now, this is a mod, and I understand the difficulty in designing, modelling, rigging, and animating a custom creature. I would have knocked off a point and given this a 9/10. However, This is a mod, and given what was there to work with, I think the result turned out really nice, even if they were just Crysis aliens.

I give this a full 10/10. It's not perfect, and you can nitpick a few things, but there is rarely such a high quality mod that people put real effort into. This is fully deserving of a playthrough. So stop reading this and play it now.
