Valve has created a fork of Wine called Proton and it has made huge improvements to Linux gaming!
I've been testing and re-testing all of my Steam games, GOG games and even itch.io indie games with Proton. There is even an experimental fork of Proton called Glorious Egg Roll which has some enhancements not yet available.
