the 1.5 build is the last stable version. The 2.0 are unstable and currently not on Desura automatic update. If you want to try them out do what Zorder said in the comments. Right click the version you want and choose "View link in browser", should work fine.

I'm not sure unfortunately. Gimp is a bit like Photoshop, only free. I don't think it'll help though. There are many programs for making screenshots, just google some. They might do better.

If you use print screen it usually saves the image to the clipboard. You have to paste it to paint or another picture editing program and save it manually.
