Hey Vertelame thanks for the question!
Gameplay wise you have it exactly right, with your none hero units behaving similar to units from Mount And Blade however this will be a semi turned based environment to keep battles flowing smoothly when its not your heroes turn to act.
With commanding your troops the current design is to have a menu come up when pressing on any unit of a specific type. You will then be able to give that entire type of unit commands such as telling them to charge or hold.
Heroes will be fully controllable however, choosing where they move, ability's/items they use and so on.
The game currently uses a real time battle system however this causes issues when playing in hotseat mode against other players and not having not much control in general during fights.
The reasoning for a semi turn based system where normal units are controlled by the AI is this will allow for much bigger fights without slowing down the gameplay of turn based battles.
I will be starting the re-coding of the battle system soon so be sure to let me know if you have any problems with the current design.
