I've seen this type of design before (darker background with some sort of vibrant foreground brush) and decided to give it a go.
Would've loved to have some blue sparks shooting off that as well. If anyone has tips on how to do that, let me know! :)

Nice! I guess I might crop this to my screen size and use it as a desktop! ;D
Even though I think it would look better without sparks (you know, keeping it classy without blowing all in the face) I guess (dont know if it's possible) : Use a brush that paints small, sharp shapes and make it so the brush would face/rotate around a point, which would be the supposed source of said sparks, and then apply various filters (blur towards center, glow etc.)

First of all, what's your desktop resolution?
It makes sense and I did find a tutorial that semi worked, but it didn't provide the right shapes for the sparks. Plus, I didn't have any good brushes either :P
