You could always summon an Alien Slave by putting "summon npc_vortigaunt" in the console so they were called both since the beginning.

Just might drop some remaining bugs if you weren't already aware of them.

The subtitles are a little incomplete, with no subtitles for the Tau Cannon intro ("what is this, some kinda weapon?") and a lot of the Nihilanth lines missing.

When the scientists and guards die the subtitles indicate them playing a hurt line ("I seem to be wounded, but I can keep going").

When the scientists or guards follow you they always end up facing in one direction when they get to you, instead of facing towards you like they're supposed to.

Barney won't change orientation when running past corners, making him run backwards.

Scientists fail to play a hurt sound on death.

When the scientists are asked a question by another scientist or a guard, they will awkwardly try to nudge there way out out of social anxiety.

Instead of NPCs properly playing their idle animations, they just twitch between positions randomly, almost never actually completing any animations.

The Houndeye pack function is broken.

The Bullsquid feasting function is broken.

In the resized version of Questionable Ethics, the railing on the indoor balcony in the hub acts as a solid wall that blocks bullets despite the grunts thinking otherwise and will attempt to shoot through it anyway.

Speaking of Questionable Ethics, the announcement system will always play a line whenever you load.

Helicopters don't smoke when they take damage, removing all indication that damage is done at all.

G-Man won't stop shaking his head.

As for non-bug related suggestions

The opening weapons for the chapters are rather unfitting for the chapters relevant to them, especially for the resized maps, having far too little ammo for most scenarios. You start with the SMG, shotgun and crossbow in Questionable Ethics despite not gaining those weapons until later.

I recommend removing the [ANNOUNCEMENT SYSTEM] before all of the announcement system subtitles. I understand this was meant to replicate the similar subtitles in Half-Life 2: Episode 2 but in that case the Overwatch Voice was only used infrequently so it made sense whereas it becomes noticeable when it's present throughout the game.

Could you add an option to keep the original decals and particles from Half-Life 1 instead of using the out of place Half-Life 2 decals?

Otherwise I do quite like your work and it makes Half-Life: Source an actual fun alternative to Half-Life 1.

I believe they're talking about Return To Ravenholm, where you were to play as Adrian Shephard and fight alongside Father Grigori against various zombies.

This is the best GoldSource Half-Life 2 styled G-Man I've ever seen, all it's missing is a blank briefcase.

Thanks for the response! I've come to the conclusion that the crosshairs are just not working for me for whatever reason.

I honestly never thought the weapon menu would've been added, I usually just see animosity for it's inclusion and most big players use fast weapon switch anyway. Glad to hear it!

I think the whole Half-Life movement thing is ultimately just a small thing so I wouldn't make it high priority or anything, I just think it would be cool.

Is the size reduction for the animations necessary for the engine or is it just so it doesn't become annoying to install or work on? Either way it's completely fair if you keep it that way.

I mostly meant the last weapon switch thing as a joke but even with Doom's fast weapon switching I think it's a great addition (especially for using different combinations of weapons for different enemies).

I'm super happy with how the mod is regardless and I'm excited to see what you come out with in the future.

You've done an absolutely incredible job with this (the Health Bonuses switched out for the Soda cans is inspired). However, I think this mod would benefit from some small additions that would elevate it even further.

While the Half-Life HUD is very cool and helps make it feel more Half-Life-ey, it's missing the crosshairs. It makes enabling the crosshair a little jarring, which is a bummer because FPS' with the Y axis are annoying to play without one (for me at least).

Another small thing that would be cool to see is the way Half-Life switches it's weapons. Using the scroll wheel to see the weapons without immediately equipping them. Although, it seems like that's a lot of work for a feature that isn't exactly the most popular thing in the world.

It would be incredible if you managed to incorporate Half-Life's movement speed, crouch height and jump height into the mod as an option. I think it still works really well with Doom's controls but it would take it to another level if you managed that IMO.

While for the most part you did a flawless job at recreating Half-Life's weapon animations, the crowbar seems just a little off. The sideways swing especially seems far more clunky then it did in the original.

That's about it, sorry if these things have been asked before or if I came across as overly negative, because I don't mean to be. You should be greatly commended for your work here regardless.

As an aside, I am personally offended that you listed the Last Weapon Switch as pointless. It's one of my favourite parts of Valve games honestly, and it works really well here as well to keep the action more fluid.

Is this compatible with Jesse1066's Modernized Textures?

Is it possible to use this and keep the original HUD? It's just a personal preference thing really but I much prefer the original HUD and font than what you've changed it to, this mod looks great other than that.

This is an extremely well made mod and should probably have more recognition for one reason, it inherits stealth in a way I don't really see much in Half-Life, it being Brutal helps too and makes for an incredibly enjoyable experience.

I probably sound like an absolute idiot right now but, I would love to see this ported to source with all the same textures and models, just with the ragdoll physics and lighting, I know this probably sounds very dumb and makes the whole point of the mod obsolete but I just really would like it for some reason. (also just wanna point out, this mod is fantastic, just like everything else Magic Nipples touches)

PS: I'm not meming right now

PPS: Crowbar AR2 is best AR2
