OK figured it out. It is weird. I read the STALKER Wiki and modified the trade_barman.ltx file so that a wider variety of ammo would be available. This is what is causing the Barman to wander around. Totally weird. If I replace my lightly modified file with the original, the Barman reverts to normal behavior. This is really strange.

Uninstalled and reinstalled STALKER and then added SC2009 + SC Realistic Weapons. Bartender is now clickable, but he either walks around without stopping or just isn't there.

HELP!

Hmm, good idea. I may just have to do that, now there is no Bartender in the Bar at all.

Weirdly enough sticking a thumb drive might have fixed the CTD when I click on the Bartender. It is currently working and I'm hesitant to mess with it.

However, I just walked into the Bar and the Bartender has wandered off. How can I get this guy to stay behind the bar? This is a game breaker.

HELP!-Click on Barman -> CTD

Came back to SoC after a bit and had a good few hours. Went to the Bar to turn in the completion of a mission to the Barman. BUT when I click on him I Crash to Desktop!!!!!

Then when I restarted SoC, it would CTD when I tried to reload. I rebooted and was able to get back in but still touching the Barman is the touch of death.

I went back to some slightly older saves and moved forward, same result.

Recently the Barman has come out from behind his bar and now wanders around the bar area.

The version I am playing is:
- v 1.005
+ Stalker Complete 2009 v1.4.4
+ Stalker Complete Realistic Weapons v0.8

I'm playing the Steam version as I had a lot of save game problems with the CD version. I'm maybe 25% into the game now. A bit ago the Barman started wandering around from behind the bar. It was sometimes hard to impossible to converse with him. Now he is just standing out on the floor in front of the bar, but if I click on him there is instant CTD.

A solution would be GREAT as this is basically my favorite game right now for all the reasons everyone here already knows.

A while back an ex-Marine was commenting on the balance of range and accuracy. While I'm not sure there might not be something in what he was saying, I think the issue is a bit more complex. I installed SC Realistic Weapons add-on 0.8 and started a new game over the weekend and last night was in the Train Depot in Garbage making life difficult for the bandits.

Using the MP5 and iron sights (not the greatest setup for long range accuracy!) I was able to fairly reliably get hits at 35 meters, as measured by the built in crosshair range. However, the sight picture was not what I would expect of a 35m range, it was much smaller. The closest target for US Army qualification is 50m and the target looks huge compared to the sight picture at 35m in STALKER. I was also plinking at a target at a range of 70m and the STALKER sight picture was vastly smaller - roughly more like 500m than 70m.

My conclusion is that the range reported in STALKER is wildly too short. Anyone else have thoughts on this?

Very nice. I was hoping the answer was that the game can be quite unpredictable, not that I had messed up something. :)

Was a completely different experience going up that road the first time diving from tree to tree and burning through med kits to keep from bleeding to death.

I notice that the guy who was working to add additional weapons to Complete bailed.

Would other add weapons mods work with Complete? Any recommendations for some that might be compatible?

I totally support the idea of keeping the mod running!!

Sounds like a problem I have, but my problem isn't with the mod, it is with my resolution setting and my monitor. You might try fiddling with your resolution to find one that is happy with your monitor settings.

Patience, better weapons show up over time. A personal favorite is the 8-round pump shotgun. I call it the 'puppy pleaser' :)

For reasons that had nothing to do with your mod, I stripped SOC off my system and did a reinstall. Since I decided to start over from the beginning I set difficulty to Veteran and added your SC Realistic Weapons add-on 0.8.

Other than the greatly increase lethality of weapons, which was expected, I'm noticing two changes that seem odd.

1. When I'm fighting with others, fewer of them seem to die.
2. There are vastly fewer bandits in some places. For example, after crossing the Railroad Embankment and talking to Fox, I went up the road to the check point where you can cross into Garbage. Last time I was there it was a running battle against about 10 - 12 bandits all the way up the road. This time there were two slackers hanging around the gate to the check point. Huge difference.

However, when I got into the Garbage and joined up with Bes at the Junk Yard, the numbers of bandits seemed as normal.

Are these just variations in the game or did you change something?

Very much enjoying the increased, more realistic lethality. Although I have to be a lot more careful, I no longer have to empty a magazine of 9mm to kill a dog. :)

I have to agree. The degree to which the added soundtrack has enhanced the base game is surprising. In theory, I wouldn't think it would matter that much, but I'm finding I really enjoy it more and more. It is a unique feature.

Could you point me to the value I would need to adjust to decrease the cost of armour repair?

I have just recently arrived at the Bar 100 Rads and am delighted that I can get my gear repaired by the Bar Keeper, but the repair prices, especially for armour, seem excessive. For example, a Stalker Suit valued at 15,000 at 50% damage costs 13,000 to repair.

I could use one of the mods for unbreakable gear as a guide and decrease the amount of damage inflicted, but I'd rather just make it cheaper (and more reasonable IMO) to fix.

Thanks

Many thanks, changing the value to .015 produced exactly the result I wanted.

The point of aim is still a dot, but the surrounding dots are now dashes giving a much clearer assist. I was finding that in the heat of the moment, especially with shotguns which have a wide field to begin with, I was mistaking a perimeter dot for the center dot.

Hoping for either a minor graphics tweak or info on how to do it myself.

The default "crosshair", the default aiming point, has really tiny white dots, so tiny that sometimes in the heat of a moment I have problems with them.

Is it possible to either:
1) make the dots a bit larger,or
2) to change the center dot to a different shape, like maybe a "+" sign?

I suspect this might be really simple and easy, but I have no idea where to make such a change.

Thx

Update

Previously, one shot would pop the boxes, now four or five shots do it. None of this is mentioned in the tiny tiny rules (which is not your responsibility of course). But now with your mod I have to keep shooting, which is fine.

Ref the vegetation, I was at the Mill over by the Check Point and the trees showed no wind, but the low stuff, like knee high, was shaking hard, like high wind or an earthquake - odd.

First, absolutely awesome. I'm a brand new player and I dumped my previous game just to restarte in the great environment. This is one of the most extreme game remods I know of. The brick walls, for example, are incredible.

Second, HUGE problem. I can no longer get into the shiny goody boxes! Previously, I had to shoot them and they popped open. Now I shoot them and they act like they were shot, but don't open.

This happens with both boxes I find on my own and boxes the PDA tells me about.

By the by, just as a point of information the control keys were slightly remapped from the way they were originally when I installed the game. I mention this to acknowledge that this mod tweaks far more than just the graphics. I'm assuming there is now a new way to get into the boxes and at the goodies, but I sure didn't see it mentioned here.

I'm running a totally un-modded up-to-date Steam version + only your mod.

Please HELP! Obviously, this is a game killer for me.

Third, could you advise where I should start tweaking with my vegetation. It is very sharp and looks great, but it seems to be sort of twinkling and unstable if you look at it closely. It is very distracting.
