You're the best, Jasper.
I've officially got nothing to play. Had enough of Fallout 4, New Vegas, Skyrim, finished the Witcher 3, and now checking in daily once again for any scrap of news for 2.2. Looks like the Steam sale hits today, so I'm going to have to find something to distract myself with 'til the big day.
I'd forgotten I'd posted this. I'd disabled adblocker for moddb, maybe that was the problem. Time will tell.
I'm already using firefox. I'm gonna disable ads, maybe Jasper is right and it's a dodgy advert.
Does anyone have any idea why this site would be causing my browser to struggle? I'm getting really choppy performance, for some reason?!
Brilliant. Guess trawling the comments section pays off occasionally, huh?
Yeah, was never a fan of the helmet and ghillie suit screen effects. I actually found out you could do this by accident, was very pleased when I noticed it!
To be honest, I just toggled them off completely in the menu. I don't like them at all.
Just checking in. Again. Don't mind me.
Had to go and check. It was the steam respiration cooling mask for the high end military helmets, and the ion wind cooling system upgrade for the SEVA suit separate helmet, and possibly the full SEVA suit. Sniper class. Both say "ergonom. +50" but don't seem to do anything. This is a known problem, I'm pretty sure I've read other's comments in the past.
While we are on the subject of suit upgrades, I'm assuming you guys got around to fixing the useless "ergonomics +50" upgrades on a couple of items?
Very cool. That was the main reason I never used it.
Thanks for the info. I hope they move the stashes again, because I'm pretty sure I know where to find a hunter's kit, haha; don't want to make it too easy now, do we? Personally, I don't like that there are maintenance and utility items that have unlimited uses, because it renders (or at least used to)too many of the miscellaneous stuff obsolete, like the swiss army knife in the last version. Hopefully the new features have another use besides vendor trash for most of the existing items.
So Jasper, could you tell us a bit more about how sharpened items work? Do they stay sharp, or do they have finite multiple uses, using the same mechanics as, say a container of fuel, where they are effectively different items for empty, one use left, two uses left, etc. I've been checking this site once or twice a week since the 2.2 reveal, and I need me my fix. Looking forward to this more than the upcoming Witcher 3 and Fallout 4 dlc's (which I love).
It's pretty much all of the new semi-auto rifles; the SKS, G43, uuuuh, can't remember any more off the top of my head. The selective fire rifles, and originals, e.g. the Dragunov all work quite well, come to think of it so do the Sig 550 sniper and M16A2 sniper. It may just be two or three rifles.
Does anybody know the extent of the changes regarding the weapons? I know we are getting overhauled textures, but I was hoping for improved scope textures, and weapon tweaks, for example the semi-auto rifles having an unrealisticly low rate of fire.
Been playing through the Metro games, which has given me a thirst for my beloved MISERY. Can't wait for 2.2, I need it now!
In the vanilla version wasn't it possible to get another compass artifact to use for yourself. I'm sure Noah angrily gives you a second if you ask. If they're effectively useless this is disappointing. :(
Yup. I remember when this caught me out as well back in the day. Always go for the helmet/suit night vision combined with the adjustable scope.
You forgot to mention the vodka for the cheeki breeki celebrations! Then again, I suppose it goes without saying.
Are the semi-auto rifles getting a tweak? At the moment the Gewehr 43 and SKS for example have unrealistically slow ROF.
Thanks. It looks as though some of this stuff is going to be included in the upcoming update, so I'll hold off until then. Until then I can customise a weapon in every caliber for long range fights to keep me busy, and test them on the monolith :)
I'm not sure what resolution I'm on, I can't remember how to check beyond the installation process, though I do remember when playing around with the FOV it seemed to affect the weapon zoom levels; one setting even give a negative zoom for the ruger pistol. The Steyer AUG also has almost no zoom when using the scope on my current settings, as an example, and the SUSAT scope's point of aim is slightly off centre, with a jagged/low quality image. This is a shame as I'd have liked to have used the L1A1 or L85A2 as my main rifle.
Loaded up my old saved game from months ago, and putting off continuing the story now I have reached Pripyat; my only real gripe is when playing as the sniper, a good few of the scopes are low resolution, have poor zoom, or are not properly centred. Did I read somewhere that they are getting some fixes/improvements?
I've been checking in every couple of days for something new since the New year's update, I'm glad to see my patience rewarded. I can see more than a few new items in the picture, which is great. My only real gripes with the last build was the poor weapon textures and scope views on some of the weapons, apart from that everything else was extremely satisfying. The only other thing is I'd also like it if we could gather meat and hide from cats, rather than just tails, and for the sniper class' hunger to drain quicker; I found it too easy to feed Degtaryev, ending up with dozens of stacks of food, both healthy and unhealthy, stored away in various stashes.
I didn't even realise an alternate Vintorez existed! Will have to take a look. You don't mean the VSK, do you?
There's a stash in Pripyat containing said weapon. :D
I had the same problem, but then I got lucky. Instead of finishing talking to him to fast travel back to base, I hit escape which seemed to work. It's worth one try, at least.
No, that's the best you can hope for. At least it's better than the rather poor western scopes, the ACOG and SUSAT aren't very well implemented unfortunately, and are only 2x and 4x respectively.
Yeah, but before the current build. Both he and his dog were missing, I presume killed by bandits, as I've seen them frequent the area before. Fortunately it doesn't seem to affect the story; you can navigate the burnt farmstead/access the plateau without him, though if you want to acquire the compass I think you're screwed.
I can't seem to find the complete (spoiler) Arsenal list. Is it not out yet? I was sure that it was. Also, will the removed Alun's mosin ever be re-introduced? I never got a chance to try it out in the earlier build.
