"Expect the unexpected" is a very apt description of Enderal. For a non-horror game it manages to create an atmosphere of uncertainity, tension, and an indistinct feeling of something not being right that you just can't put your finger on until you're suddenly confronted by its source.

Graphically stunning, with great soundrack, voice acting, level design and a living, breating world, populated by character that are not two dimensional or black and white like so many other RPGs like to portray. You will be made to care for what consequences your actions may have, who to side with, and question if you actually really are the hero of this world.

The dialogs flow naturally in a way not often seen. Your companions throughout the game don't seem like their sole purpose is to wait to be graced by the "hero's" presence; they have a life, past and convictions outside of being the part-time help in your endeavors.

And last but not least, in spite of a rather standard "hero has to save the world" main questline, the storytelling is so compelling the story feels like something never seen before, unique.

The only minus Enderal deserves is for its rather lackluster crafting system, which feels shoddy and inconsistent with the brilliance of everything else. But it is a minor annoyance in an otherwise great game.

When I saw this mod, I have expected HD textures for my beloved games of the Thief series. And just that would have deserved a 10 for improving one of the only things these games need in terms of improvement. I have NOT expected for the visuals to be pushed further into nex gen games with models, effects and beautifully wet water. And then you go and add real lights in places, where fakes have been put in the original - an immersion breaker finally removed! Thanks!
