QBasic 4.5.

It reminds me of 7th grade. Back then, we had QBasic classes and it was pretty fun for me, while my other classmates were crying because they didn't understand a thing. Hah. Those same classmates will be having C++ in a year or two.

I wrote a small program where you control a dot on the screen with WASD, and a small sequence that looks like some sort of OS startup. It gets auto-executed whenever you launch DosBox so it's kinda cool. :)

But yeah, there's more stuff than that to come.

Description

So, a couple of days ago, I decided to finally bring my 2005 HP Compaq into the room again. And this time, I would connect it to my CRT TV, because it was the only CRT device I had. I would've used a CRT monitor if I had one. :)

Either way, it feels amazing. Launching a dedicated server for HL worked very well, hosting a site with Apache (as part of WampServer) worked very well, and I also tried some Telnet. I'm yet to configure OpenSSH properly so I don't have to walk to the other side of the room every time I want to do something.

It runs DOS programs, BUT, if you try going full screen, the CRT TV screen will go absolutely crazy. So, I used DosBox. It's perfect.

The games I've tried on it so far are:
DooM, Quake, Starsiege Tribes, Half-Life (the WON, pre-Steam version), Counter-Strike 1.6 and HL (Steam version), Unreal and Deus Ex.

There's a big problem. The graphics card (Ati Radeon X300 SE) freezes the system if you a) run an OpenGL or DirectX application b) leave it running long enough in Windows, with the drivers installed. So yeah, I just disable the graphics card and it uses software rendering for everything. If it works, it works. I might buy a GT 710 and a VGA-Composite adapter, there's no other way this will work. xD

Software I've tried out:
QBasic 4.5 in DosBox, Dev-C++, MS Visual Studio 6.0, MS Visual Basic 6.0, WampServer, OpenSSH, Putty and QuArK, Worldcraft 2.0.

I'm planning to try the following:
3D Studio MAX R2.5, R3, an ancient Sony Vegas, get an older SDL and configure it with Dev-C++ or VS 6.0 (maybe some other libraries that can work on XP) and that's about it.
