I'm assuming most of this footage was in-mod? I've never seen most of it in any of the ME games.

Here's a suggestion:
How about coding the mod so that planet lights on the night side gradually appear as population increases. If the planet is bombed, naturally the population loss will cause the lights to fade and disappear.
