Getting used to playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (and Misery which has a much steeper learning curve than the vanilla game) back again after so much time i've left it (about two years) will be hard, but thank you for everything you've done, guys. Let's hope both our waiting and your hard work will be worth it for days, weeks, and years to come. Thanks again.

May seem a bit obsessive but i think it's the only way to not forget about it due to work and personal life and then maybe wake up 10 years later after a dream of your old Misery craving suddenly made you remember about it and maybe find that Moddb closed a month after Misery 4.5 was released and you can no longer get it. Just my 0.02

Simple. Have you ever tried to run while wearing a gas mask or similar breathing apparatus? Or cycling with an FFP3 mask on? Less air flow, more work on your lungs to get the oxygen, add to this the suit's weight, and you have less stamina. Much like why you could get warmer air from your car's air conditioning if the cabin filter is dirty and needs replacement.

Yes, end all power and forget about using the PDA to find your way, just like what would happen in real life with a smartphone and Google Maps.

It may reduce friendly fire in tunnels, but it could be detrimental to realism, since, in my own opinion, among untrained guys with small or no military background (most S.T.A.L.K.E.Rs i think) carrying full automatic weapons, friendly fire would be highly likely.

And a 12 Gauge conversion kit too, since that's what Snorks hate a lot.

I always wanted to know what the soldiers in the Laundromat were saying about the Sputnik (that's the only word i understood).

You not only improved the mod. You also fixed the game, and LUA can be a PITA (had to fix something myself in Clear Sky otherwise i would have had to break to a standstill). Kudos for that, men.

You're talking about Beta, but will an RC (Release Candidate) stage be there too?

I think the most realistic consequence to an Emission, which is basically comparable to an EMP pulse from a nuke exploding if i understand it correctly, would be a destroyed radio if solid state anyway.

Don't leave anything undone guys, especially these annoying bugs. Take your time and try to make all that waiting worth it. :-)

I meant that armor (including plates) above IIIa (IIIa can stop a .44 Magnum and any smaller pistol caliber IIRC) is restricted to military and police only just like AP ammo. So in Misery it should be ridiculously expensive to buy from traders compared to IIIa rating and below equipment.

You do what the game engine allows you to do, sad but true.

Well, with IIIa i meant armor grade and the corresponding non-AP bullet caliber it can stop (as a side note, let's not forget that armor can stop bullets, but not their kinetic energy: it's called "blunt trauma"; that's why even if you wear armour, in realistic videogames every hit takes away some health). I wasn't talking about FMJ/JHP (generally ok for the civilian market) vs AP ammo (always illegal) per se.

In order to make the mod realistic i would also consider that IIRC in RL anything above IIIa (which is large caliber pistol rounds such as .44 Magnum in essence) is restricted to the military (and police forces if i'm not mistaken). So everything else would be really hard to get in the Zone, much harder than imported goods such as beer. I didn't look out for this back in 2.1.1.

Exactly, Stalker, and Misery even more, is pretty realistic in that aspect (in RL, distinguishing friend from foe is a much harder task, and Misery is a RL oriented mod). One can't expect someone else (an NPC) to be friendly if there's the muzzle of a gun (loaded or unloaded, there's no difference, since a gun is always to be treaten like it's loaded) pointed in an unsafe direction, for example, if i understand/remember correctly (maybe 2.2 is even more improved in the way of realistic NPC reactions than 2.1.1).

Wait, you mean an animation that shows the opening up of a weapon, the servicing of all worn out or broken parts, the clean up of everything and the reassembling of it? I think it would not be feasible in a video game with today's hardware.

You'd like the VEKTOR to be featured in the mod, i'd like the Beretta AR70-90 and ARX160 and disposable RPGs such as RPG18s and M72 LAWs in addition to the RPG7, everyone would like a certain gun in the mod. I'd think the mod would get too much heavy to handle if too many weapons were added, not to mention that many today's militaries weapons would be hard to smuggle to the Zone (much, much harder than obsolete Soviet Bloc equipment such as AKs and RPGs) so the mod could become pretty unrealistic too.

In 2.1.1 all you have to do to get rich in no time is keep looking for Steyr AUGs (in addition to collecting the Dragunovs from the soldier corpses around the helicopters, since all it takes to bring them to mint condition is a sharpening stone kit and some kero or gasoline). You can then sell them to Beard for ridiculous value even when they're broken, since there are better rifles around.

To put it in other terms, saying that Misery is 98% complete is like saying it's an old petrol car with no distributor installed. 98% complete or even more, but it simply won't run. Or a defective distributor, that doesn't power all sparkplugs. It's 99,9% complete and it can run, but poorly, and if you run it (and it has a converter), it could also catch fire.

Ingenious stuff, though it would make a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. look more like some kind of Flintstone than a mercenary while using one IMHO. Maybe adding clubs, choppers (shaped rocks, that maybe you could make on the field from a stone without any tools) and spears in addition to knives would be feasible too.

With the Assault class, in Misery 2.1.1 i had no accuracy problem at all with accuratized assault rifles (you grab an AK or AR type rifle around, or, if you prefer, Eastern Bloc, cheaper to buy but somewhat less performant, or NATO gun, you repair it, you upgrade it focusing on accuracy vs ROF, then you put a scope on it, you try to get headshots every time and then you're done), and no need for proper (and heavy, and harder to get ammo for, but good for selling) sniper rifles either.

A little OT, but sincerely i prefer hybrid HDs over SSDs. The latter wear out faster than mechanical drives (yes, i want my PC to be cost effective too).
