Hi!

I think this group has been quiet for long enough and what we do here should be put into practice and not be kept to ourselves.
So I thought about starting a story development for the Overgrowth mod "Time Company" in the writer'S club and ask for your ideas and feedback on the story I am developing here.

Let's get started with a setting.

London 1602
The small ice age is still haunting Europe and winters are extremely cold, while summers are dim and rainy. This is the time when London was at its foggiest and perhaps most interesting to look at. Tudor houses, large brick chimneys and little boys sweeping them without anyone turning out the steam underneath. Cruel times, in which everyone was looking for an advantage and few people knew about ideals of humanism. Protestant Englishmen dressed in black rule the Kingdom, guided by clerics who are often richer than other European Kings. Great Britain is thriving and wants to prove its dominance over the rest of the world.

Lately strange artefacts have been produced by a group of miners, who survived a cave in. They spoke of a giant, artificial tunnel they found. A strong light was shimmering at its end, but before the men could check it out the ceiling gave in and buried most of them alive. However, they brought some of the objects they found there. Nobody knows what they found, except one mysterious stranger, who recently arrived in town.
He gets an audience with King Charles 1st and presents to him the secrets of electricity. Charles declares him "Lord Eclectrician". The stranger becomes one of the kings most venerable advisors and within little time he takes over control of the clerus and turns the monks and priests into "Eclectricians", whose task it is to find and decipher artefacts all over the town.

More and more strange devices and machines are found and brought to the Lord Eclectrician. Soon London thrives with electrical machinery and power stations and the town is lit and heated. The King demands war machinery, so vehicles and mechanical soldiers are build and powered by electricity. For a while everything seems to work out, until earthquakes and torments hit the town with yet unknown strenght. Electrical storms destroy parts of the town, so the eclectricians produce a force field. The regions outside town become more and more dangerous to men, since people disappear and are never heard of again. However, people are seeking for the mysterious artefacts everywhere, since they are more valuable than gold is to the King. Night and day his Lord Eclectrician works in the highest tower to complete his masterpiece (a flying machine).

Into this chaos stumbles a visitor from the past. David Grayson finds himself situated in a forest, instead of his cell inside a lunatic asylum. When he's discovered by a group of merchants they mistake him for an Eclectrician, since that is the only group of people, who wear white. Since David can explain every device that's shown to him, he soon makes a reputation for himself and actually starts working in the trade. He is brought before the king and questioned, but the Lord Eclectrician calls him a heretic and David is put into the tower.
A group of dissidents (one of them form his own time?) help him out of the tower of London and want his help to overthrow the King and his Eclectrician. David just wants to go home, but he knows he has to find the cause for the messed up timelines first. He has to get to the Lord Eclectrician and find out what he is working on and what purpose brought him to the past. Perhas then David can find a way back into his own time, too.

Next: A brief introduction to gameplay and combinatory play in the game, which lets you create working machines and devices from the "artefacts" you find all over town.
