Description

Part 1: Moddb.com

On Friday, October 13, 1307, King Philip IV of France ordered de Molay, The Grand Master Templar, Geralt of Rivia and scores of French Templars to be simultaneously arrested. The Templars were charged with numerous offences and Pope Clement ordered for them to be burnt at the stake.

On March 18, 1314, the imprisoned Templars were escorted to Paris to be burned alive at the stake for all to see. De Molay and Geralt of Rivia reportedly remained defiant to the end, asking to be tied in such a way that they could face the Notre Dame Cathedral and hold their hands together in prayer. The Grand Master Templar looked at the sky with a smile on his face and appeared calm even though his death was near. Recruit Templar Issac reportedly said he was scared but it was said that Geralt of Rivia assured him that God would avenge them.

According to legend, Geralt of Rivia called out from the flames that both Pope Clement and King Philip would soon meet him before God. His actual words were recorded on the parchment as follows : "Dieu sait qui a tort et a pëché. Il va bientot arriver malheur à ceux qui nous ont condamnés à mort" (free translation : "God knows who is wrong and has sinned. Soon a calamity will occur to those who have condemned us to death"). Pope Clement died only a month later, and King Philip died in a hunting accident before the end of the year.

Geralt of Rivia was avenged but the world had lost a hero.
