When the third invasion of Sha'draig inevitably began, the Hive Mind had altered the Hormagaunts further, increasing the efficiency of the creatures in tearing through the thick hide of the Kroot. Unfortunately, this third wave made quick work of the forest world's Kroot defenders, yet the genetic changes made to the Hormagaunt biomorph weaked the creatures' own resistance to injury as the Hive Mind had traded thicker carapaces for more powerful musculature and speed. This allowed the Tau, using the time bought by vast quantities of Kroot blood, to blow them apart with their powerful ranged energy weapons.
In the end, Hive Fleet Gorgon's extreme adaptability proved to be its chief vulnerability, as the rapid cycle of adaptation and replenishment of its forces forced the Tyranids to rely on their smaller, less complex biomorphs that could be bred most rapidly. The Gorgon had few of the larger and more potent Tyranid biomorphs at its disposal and those it did possess were not easy to replace. Once the Tau recognised this reality and made the elimination of these creatures a priority for the Fire Caste, the course of the war dramatically shifted in their favour.
i read about this on lexi. supposedly both sides kept on adapting to each other that and the tau came to a point in which it was using "primitive" tau weapons due to pulse canons being ineffective

What was the hivefleet that produced gaunts immune to pulse rifle fire?
Link in discription.
I wouldn't trust 40k.wiki, Lexi is far better and is more moderated. If it isn't sourced, it gets deleted.
You gotta be kidding me? You're giving me minus karma? I don't want to be on this group anymore...
I gave no-one minus karma. I hardly use it.
I added +1 karma to you, dont know who hates tau...
yea i agree some of the stuff on the wiki sounds to much like fan fluff not proper cannon
'What was the hivefleet that produced gaunts immune to pulse rifle fire?'
..but then it has to have soft, puffy claws, because it would sacrifice teh combat abilities for impenetrable cerapace lol
