I wonder whatever happened with Dark Millennium Online. This ain't the same people I don't think.
It got canned following the death of THQ.
I'm sad that this game is turning into another "pay more - get more" kinda game on top of a monthly subscription. And the prices are not even low, they go up to 100 bucks or more. The even worse thing is, the game is not even out yet...
I'm truly disappointed and heartbroken :(
tl;dr: No monthly, pay once, extra stuff on pay store.
Q:What business model will the game use?
Eternal Crusade will be available for digital purchase, with a free-to-play option we call “Free-to-Waaagh!”. By purchasing a copy of the game, you will have access to it forever with no need for a subscription. There will be post-launch expansions as well as a cash shop for aesthetic customizations and side-grades.
If you don’t want to buy a game key, you can still try the Free-to-Waaagh mode and play Eternal Crusade as an Ork Character. In contrast to the premium Ork progression, some options will be locked off, but you’ll be able to go anywhere and fight for the Waaagh! If you like it, but don’t want to pay the full price, you can unlock some of the missing options with micro-transactions.
Exactly, this is like SWTOR all over again. People never learn...
From what I heard the business model seems to be pretty reasonable...
Paying for the game once with no sub sounds perfectly fine for me and in an interview somewhere the devs said all the additional micro-transaction will be for aesthetic stuff only.
They jokingly called it "pay to look cool" as opposed to the old "pay to win".
SWTOR was a different story altogether.

I love how those massive defensive guns are never relevant in a Warhammer 40k game.
Dark Angels without the Death or Ravenwings? I mean that's pretty much the only reasons to play them.
