I my opinion, nothing but self-defense.

But then again, self-defense is such a broad term these days. Iraq is fine example of "self-defense".

In my opinion, everything.
You have the right to do anything that you are able to achieve.

There are far too many potential justifications to list. Generally not killing people is the ideal solution to any or at least most situations.

If it is necessary to prevent someone from killing you, your loved ones, or innocent people then it is acceptable. So basically self-defense.

Alternatively there is the need to kill in wars but that would fall under the title of whether or not war is moral, logical, or necessary.

Also here's another interesting perspective on the subject of self-defense, and gun control: Youtube.com

On another note, how should war be conducted? Currently it is impersonal and you fight a faceless enemy.

In my opinion people should return to the old warrior way of sword and shield, but go one better and include honor. I imagine two battlelines facing each other and then each Warrior seeks a foe for a one on one dual.

Better yet, if our leaders want to have this war and violence so much, hand them a sword and send them to the enemy. That was so much better of the old age, rulers fought alongside the army and now its like that quote.

"War is old men talking and young men dying."

When George Carlin says war is old rich white men sending poor people to protect their land, that is now undeniably true. Honor has ceased to be useful since no one cares any longer for it. Everything is superficial, popularity, wealth, ect.

Personally, I hate the direction culture is going however liberal it may be becoming. Causes are now mostly a group of people whining over something unimportant who want some sort of moral high. That girl who killed herself by drinking bleach for instance, I doubt most of the people who jumped on that bandwagon honestly have gone beyond "bullying is bad" when considering what they're standing for, if many have even considered what it is they stand for to begin with.

I'm tired of this shallow culture, that's why I prefer play Guild Wars all day. No drama, no whining, just lots of killing & loot.

What situations gives a person the right to kill another?

if they steals my bacon bits...

or more seriously I would agree with others on the ideas of self defense. though self defense really falls into an even biger catigory of survival. biologically behavior that will enhance our chances for survival is neccessary- usually that comes out to working together and helping eachother for mitual benifit- but sometimes it comes down to killing.
I know almost noone who wouldnt kill to feed there children, or to protect themselves or others from harm.
