Join the Social Modding Club where we plan events to play some of the great mods of our time, both old and new. The goal of this group is to allow members to easily plan and schedule events for gamers to play together. Moddb.com and Desura allow anyone to easily find, download, install, and update mods. This is the perfect place to setup a group with a forum that pulls gamers together so we can all enjoy the fruits of everyone's labor. My hope is that this will allow gamers to experience some of the amazing online mods that don't always have a large user base. I plan to have regularly scheduled events to keep this group active and a forum that will support users posting their own events or requests for gaming. Please join the group and enjoy the pleasures of playing mods with friends!

Welcome to the Social Modding Club,
We are a group of gamers that play all the great online mods together. We have a slight focus on mods that don't have huge user bases but are a blast to play. Please join or track the group, enjoy the events, and post your own events and gaming requests in the forum. Below you will find information about the upcoming events for this week:

Date: Wednesday, Feb 10th 2010
Time: 5pm until 8pm EST
Mod: Age of Chivalry
Download: Link

Age of Chivalry is an online multiplayer total conversion for Half-Life 2 set in a fantasy world in the medieval ages. Its great first person melee combat combined with different classes and game modes always equal a good time. The game is hosted by Steam so it does require a Steam account which is free. Click the download link above or go to Steams mod section and download to join in.

Canyon

Date: Saturday, Feb 13th 2010
Time: 2pm until 5pm EST
Mod: SourceForts
Download: Link

SourceForts is a Half Life 2: Deathmatch mod where Combine and Rebels face off in capture-the-flag action with a big twist. Players build bases and other structures with blocks and plates in the "build phase" to protect themselves and their team's flag (which is actually a ball), and then fight it out and try to capture the enemy's flag in the "combat phase". Once the combat phase has ended, it's back to build, where players can repair, improve, and change their creations to ready them for the next combat phase. If it sounds like crazy fun, its because it is!

Date: Sunday, Feb 14th 2010
Time: 2pm until 5pm EST
Mod: Pirates, Vikings, Knights II

Download: Link

Pirates, Vikings, Knights II is a Half Life 2 mod that has great melee combat between 3 teams each with unique classes. This mod will be getting an update to 2.3 this week and is getting hosted by Steam along with a new class for the Vikings. So what better way to celebrate than to fill up the servers and test out the new content. I hope to see everyone online this week, even if only for a game or two!

I hope the ModDB staff can give this a bit of PR because I'll be there at every single date. They should even add count downs.

Have you decided on a server to join or do you host your own for the duration of these games?

By the way, SF rules regardless of HL2's ping/physics bugs

Hey pado16,
Most of the time the mod has a couple dedicated servers so I just use one for the event. However some mods don't and that's when I will try hosting one and also ask others to host one and post the IPs here. I haven't checked out SourceForts yet so I am excited and will see what the server situation is like. I'll post here for the event with the server name/IP.

SourceForts was awesome yesterday, we got up to at least 20 people for awhile and I saw a couple new players like myself joining in which is great. That's another mod I will be using again in future events!

Glad to see PVKii getting some much deserved attention with their latest steam release. There are tons of people playing so join in on the fun. There a bunch of servers so you should be able to find a low lag one with plenty of new and veteran players sword fighting to the death.

I'll be in this server for a bit:

COZWORLD.com...
IP: 208.86.251.56:27015
