A presumably female Mandalorian with her pet dog. This image takes a large amount of artistic liberties which is not a bad thing given the execution is done so well.
First off the corrections. The Mandalorian equivalent of a dog is known as a Strill. These creatures are stinky, have six legs and a leathery skin. Secondly the Mandalorian armor moves away from typical Mandalorian armor really quickly. The only recognizable part is the T-slit visor and the position of the shock plates over the flak vest.
Now for the image itself it seems the artist has mixed her drawing skill with photography I believe. The background is taken from the real-world whilst the dog and Mandalorian are drawn. A nice idea and actually quite well done.
The dog is very inspiring. Very real and fierce looking. A beauty for the eye to behold. Not unlike some other art I have reviewed here. The added detail of breath being exhaled from its nostrils and snow covering its paw add a nice touch.
As for the Mandalorian. Gold/Yellow stand for justice and blue stands for reliable. The assumption can be made that this Mandalorian is hunting for justice given her location in the woods and that she travels with a reliable animal used for hunting. That's my connection at least.
The level of detail is typical for this artist and everything has the same amount of it. From the winter coat to the flak vest, the boots, shock plates and helmet. They have all received the same level of dedication and so the overall look of the Mandalorian is appealing.
However when it comes to the image as a whole then it falls a bit short as combined with the background the art looks a bit surreal. Whether by intent or not.
A most splendid image indeed. Definitely one of my favorites.
Now what do we have here?
