I'm 17 and I completely agree with him. This generation is terrible only a few intellects remain and unless we deal with the morons they will take over the world with shear numbers:( Kind of like the goblins at the battle of the five armies. Weak and stupid but plentiful.
Even worse so in countries with anti-intellectualism embedded in the culture like here in Australia. If your anything but the standard 'tough' guy, then your a nerd, geek, yuppie, etc...
That's because, back in the pop culture needed to have a quality in order to prevail. Now due to piracy and majority of free stuff online, you can make money even if you don't have a high quality product.
Music was awesome, not popular; movies were brilliant, not time-killers; news were filled with relevant information, not celebrity's ****...
BUT they needed to pay for all that.
If you wanted to listen some Zepp someone needed to buy an LP. If you wanted to play Mario, you needed to buy the game.
Now you can download all sorts of free music, free movies, free games etc. (and even paid ones) for free.
That resulted in overpopulating the Internet with utter and complete ********.
Now, even if what you do is an absolute **** and an average mosquito has more talent in it's left wing than you, you can make big money just because someone better than you can't overpower you because they don't make enough money because nobody needs to buy their product to enjoy it.
Only thing you need to buy today is a decent PC and Internet connection (and even that is becoming cheaper) and enjoy... And if you are a kid, you don't even have to pay for anything!
Not so long ago, kids were saving their allowance in order to buy a good LP or a video game or something. Now they just turn on the PC and voila...
Due to right of free speech, you can't really ban or delete all junk on the Internet, but if I have kids some day, I will surely not let them come near that junk and whatever my kid wanted to do (listen to music, watch a movie, play a game...) he/she will have to make some effort to get it.
