Never underestimate a gun that can still work 50 years after being manufactured or after being buried in mud for a few months.

Oh no doubt about the length of time. AKs from the 50s have been found in Afghanistan that still function just as well as they day they were manufactured after a little maintenance. I can't think of many other machines, not just weapons, that could still function that well if subjected to the same conditions.
