I've seen this so many times that I have even started reading 10 as one zero instead of ten. Also I learned to count in binary on Thursday:) I finally get it beyond just knowing 10=2 I now understand why it does and the logic behind it.
PS loved the science related jokes or I'm just a nerdy science loving person:)
"1+1 = 3, if you're using very large denominations of 1" - that's a legit thing when you start tossing around the concept of infinity, numbers like 1.9999... etc. which go on for so long they approach 2, but have to be stuffed into a discrete number (think computer programs which don't calculate decimal places).
In which case, your joke works on two opposite and incompatible levels, but which both support the other meaning ( the people who get the first meaning probably don't get the second meaning, which reinforces both "IDK maths" and "infinity stuffed into a discrete number doesn't actually work"). There has to be some kind of prize for that mate, you deserve it :D
I see what you did there...
I have a shirt that says this.

You got me this time!
I'm a sucker for science jokes.
Actually, he's incorrect. There are 3 different kinds: Those who are good at math and those who aren't.
