I'm pretty sure the Templars are responsible for this.
why would they have done this? the next game takes place at abstergo its as much their game as the assassins. I think this was likely done by those that deny the existence of either side and consider them to just be conspiracies:)
btw this is the humor group so it goes without saying that sarcasm is involved:)

I recently finished ACR so yeah that's quite fresh in my mind:D (I could have messed up a bit as I don't perfectly remember every single sentence in a game... (yet)
