From what I hear Germany is actually siding with Russia on that one. I saw debates in the bundestag go nuts over the newly established government of Ukraine calling them fascists and whatnot. That's ironical considering the official country statement on the subject goes with the EU's =) You gotta love politics!

Germany doesnt want to pay for another Euro-country when its finances go down, and Germany is also energetically dependant on Russia.
What EU country isn't? Most get their gas from the Russians nowadays.
