And how not to be so paranoid of every encounter that seems too friendly, thinking what is their ulterior motive because you can't fathom why anyone would think you more than casual acquaintance.

In these day and age, you have a better chance of those two in gaming the in real life.
That assumes that there are huge opportunities outside... which for some of us there really aren't.
