Only if people weren't so busy with their 'smart'phones and weren't obsessed with worthless popular movements such as been a hipster, yolo/bro, modern pop-culture, body building (and then doing nothing with your body)... if only... then there might be some progress and maybe we can go into space... but only then.
eliminating war over territory, opinion and religion would be much more effective.
being shallow little bitches seems to be part of human nature anyway. and we have thousands of brilliant scientists in the world today, bringing them all together and giving them all the funding that right now goes into developing killing machines (A LOT) would be a good start.
