well Russia these days is clearly capitalism, so has nothing to do with USSR!

It does not need to have the same 'communist' ideals (I say that because it never was communist, only totalitarian) to keep the Cold War alive.
The cold war never ended because US and Russian citizens havnt let the cold war die. My uncle and dad both think Russia hates Americans. When ive met plenty of Russians who actually are fine with the US. So perhaps its the US thats keeping the Cold war running not the Russians.
