I've read on some internet news page about movies, basically in an interview the creator of Thor said that he had to kill Odin, and that he is dead 100%. Maybe it's just a troll or maybe it's not, all we can do is wait and see. I think he is either dead or trapped in some kind of dimension from which he can't escape.
It's funny cause I just watched Thor 2 a mere 10-12 hours ago.
What I didn't get was how Loki ended up on the throne at the end...I mean what happened to Odin?

he came back disguised as the guard set to check on them and must have just subdued him somehow
Mhmm yeah I know that but it would have been nice to at least get to see how it happened, just the scene seemed rushed.
