before the flood the earth was covered with a water vapor (actually scientifically proven, gotta find article) and that water vapor kept our bodies properly hydrated and no UV rays ever touched our bodies, so it was quite realistic as its the UV rays mainly that ages us.

Oh and people usually lives into the 500's and 600's, not 900's, those were the extremes and only a few reached there, kinda like people now reaching the 110s

no, just no

'old age' wasnt a large cause of death in the past

disease/environment/starvation/fighting killed a v.large percentage of the population before body deterioration became an issue

so even to say their average life span was 500 years is nonsensical.

(speculation below)
also im not certain but i wouldnt think water stops uv rays like how you can still get sunburn while swimming

No, it does, that's his whole point. Before "the flood" the water was in the atmosphere, being an effectual barrier.

Just trying to explain his comment better for your understanding ;)

oh right; didnt know that. well i suppose miles of water vapour could be more effective than a meter of water while swimming lol.

but still my point remains on the causes of death

They are talking about "the Flood" parasitic lifeforms from the halo universe (see Halo: Cryptum by Greg Bear)
