Indeed, that was my first though. On Far Cry the enemy and everybody around him actually spend a long time trying to find you if one of their comrades die.
how could the wind kill someone with an arrow? yet this is exactly what happens with most AI in most games:( i hate dumb AI...

Finding him is quite clearly the last thing he'd do.
These pirates probably are about as moral as the bandits from Borderlands, they don't care if their buddies die as long as they get paid.
As for the wind killing him, that seems like a logical conclusion to me.
