Some of their games weren't good. Like Godfather 2, although it had good graphics but the plot and contents could have been better. I've heard in a poll on GameFaqs.Com one day asking wheter EA was the wrost Game developing company or not, I voted "Yes".
It's because it's EA. There was no need for a separate distribution system, and EA went ahead and made their own system so they can get more money from selling their ****.
...competition on the market, including different ways of distributions are one of the fundamentals of our worlds economy, otherwise everything would collapse into monopoly.
a company trying to make more money?? HOW DARE THEY!!!!
but of course how could i not see that.. it's EA so obviously is **** and sucks and is the worst thing in the world right?
it's not like Steam is the same right? they clearly don't want to make more money. nope.
with that kind of logic you're saying that there should only be 1 of everything in the world. 1 supermarket, 1 hardware store, 1 electronic store, 1 internet provider etc. karma this down too while you're all at it. quite pathetic if you ask me.
EA is pretty bad. IMHO, they don't deserve a cent for the rushed garbage they keep shoveling out.
And, no, Steam is not the same. Sure, they are both for the same purpose (game distribution), but that's like comparing a time-tested, good product to a shoddy knock-off that may-or-may-not work. Origin has had its fair share of issues so far and tech support has been abysmal. Not to say that Steam was without issue when it first came out, but Origin is a pointless thing that nobody wanted. If EA wanted to make a serious competitor to Steam, one would think that they would put a bit more effort into it.
And, no, I don't want there to be monopolies on everything. That's a rather silly extrapolation. Steam has really been the only service of its kind for several years now. There is no need for Origin as, if EA wanted to compete with Steam, they should have done it much, much sooner. Plus, it's only goal and purpose is to shovel more money to EA, the king of rushed garbage, instead of it going elsewhere, like where Valve takes a bit from every Steam sale.
And, yeah, I don't bother with the karma thing. You're actually trying to argue, and that has some merit to it.
that's the point steam released nearly 10 years ago, how could EA think they could release something 10 years old.
most companies would make a blatant copy of current or try and improve.
also orgin only caters to people in Europe and the US, it ***** Oceania over in a royal fashion. 120USD for a 3month old game? **** off, no sales yet they send me the email, ditto
Well, Steam got a lot of hate early on, but nowadays most everyone seems to love it. Who knows, Origin may turn out the same way...
That said, I really don't like Origin, and if not for Mass Effect 3, I wouldn't use it at all. EA could still make it worthwhile though, if they tried, but so far there's really no incentive to use it over Steam.
1) Not Valve's games exclusive
2) the ocasional -75% of the orginal price of games
3) Has Indie games
4) Has mods
5) Tools for developing a mod/indie
6) Well organized interface
7) You can still play offline
1) Agreed.
2) Agreed, but were those sales always there? Did it start out that way? I wasn't using Steam back then, so I guess I don't know...
3) Agreed, but like above, I'm pretty sure it didn't start with indie games, and that those are a slightly more recent thing.
4/5) Definitely, Valve has always been cool about modding and mod support.
6) Ok.
7) Origin can do offline as well, I played all the way through Mass Effect 3 on my brother's account, set to offline mode, while he played it on his own computer in online mode. Of course, it means to multiplayer, but that doesn't really matter.
Anyway, I love Steam, and Valve is my number one favorite game company in the world, I'm just saying that Steam wasn't very well liked when it first came out, but Valve made people love it. EA *could* do the same thing, but they're not nearly as smart(Or nice) as Valve, so it's probably not going to happen.
well, kudos to EA for finding a way to make ******** a power source
Electronic Arts. Bringing you nothing but ******** since 1982
a totally true story pro ;)

Well to be honest. I AM a big fan of BF2... Sorry I lied everyone :(
BF 1942/2/2142 Credits goes to DICE games, NOT EA.
Thank the Gods. I thought I was in trouble there :P
(reply to rkraptor) agreed
Not really. EA doesn't bring us crap, they take good games and bring them to us in an annoying way. DIFFERENCE
if they share the secret, the tories could make GB
self-sustainable
(buried)
I hope I'm not the only one who finds Origin to be good. O.o
i don't get what all the hate is about either.. aside from only selling EA titles it's no different than Steam was when it released.
but people always feel the need to compare new thing to thing that have been around for years already..

I find it completely worthless and unnecessary.
Sometimes, we dont WANT to update.

Oh, and I like this picture =)
Well, Steam has a lot of advantages over Origin.

2) the ocasional -75% of the orginal price of games

Origin SUX! Big time!
1) Agreed.
2) Agreed, but were those sales always there? Did it start out that way? I wasn't using Steam back then, so I guess I don't know...

Origin Sucks, it won't even start any game properly.
That's a lot of bulls.
********
*powered by Origin*
Good. Now they can use politicians for power sources.

Couldn't agree more...
