what do you mean nope. its almost an exact copy of episode 4. they both have a protagonist that feels lost and end up being force sensitive, they both have an evil Empire as the enemy, they both have a sith lord that are identical(Vader and Ren) they both have a trench run. how can you say no?
The word is homage. After three ****** flims they needed to remind the audience about what made Star Wars so great. It showed what many wnted to see, the good stuff remastred once again.
I agree with you. I havent watched the movie yet, but the reviews say it is a lot like A New Hope, which is great on my book.
People did need to be reminded of why Star Wars was great back then, of why it changed Scifi and the Movie Industry. It had a good storyline, with likable and charismatic character (even Vader, the archetypical bad guy/evil knight, was universally liked) and a great visual style that carries an identity with itself.
I did like the 1st of the prequels though, I feel that The Phantom Menace was a good Star Wars movie (even Jar Jar couldnt ruin it for me), but the other 2 movies were subpar in my opinion and almost destroyed the franchise to a lot of people.
Its good that JJ is taking pages from the old ones, because they were quality Star Wars, the Star Wars people actually wanted.
Maybe they should hire those guys to build the next Death Star. And then, the Empire will finally overthrow the terrorist state called the "New Republic" and bring peace to the galaxy.
I wonder if Im the only one who was disapoited with this Star Wars Movie
TRAITOR!
I didn't even see it yet, waiting for a good torrent :P
I enjoyed it immensely when I first watched it, but after I gave it more thought I began to grow less satisfied with it.
Your not the only one GypsyBastard.
its not a bad movie. the only problem is that its a remake of episode 4.
Given the fact it is the first movie after the prequels....nope!

I am sure they will try something new in Ep 8.

Cortosis (and similar materials) aren't as cheap or easily obtainable as weaker materials are.
Nokia doesnt use Costhosis though, and those old phones are still near indestructible. Finnish engineering at its finest. ;)
