Abso-fricken-lutely!
It wouldn't be too difficult to recreate this pokemon. All you need to do is add growth genes for certain areas of fur on a tiger, and colour too, and a little skeletal alteration, and walla! Your very own (whatever the name of this pokemon is)!

Pokemon in real life is a bad idea. you seem to forget that Ghost Pokemon are literally killers and kidnapers
In that case, humans are a terrible idea then. We do that and much more.
You'd also have to consider the opposite effect. For instance, if a kid had an electric type pokemon, he'd essentially be walking to school with a pet tazer.
Maybe limit the types of Pokemon younger kids can have? For instance, they can only have bird/grass/mouse types. That wouldn't be too far from what a lot of kids have now anyways. I think the more elemental Pokemon would probably have to be given to more mature/older kids (kinda like a drivers license?).
It was needed only 6 images to create an amazing story.
Some people don't know that there was a war in the Pokemon universe. Ask Lt.Surge or one of the gym trainers.
