Certainly it wasn't all that lovey dovey in the middle-east. Ever since the time of the Romans the place has been the breeding ground of cultural unrest due to religious motivations.
Sure there could have been some camaraderie between Muslims and Christians much like how today a Christian can sit down and have an intelligent conversation with a Muslim and vice versa.
But I sincerely doubt that there were absolutely no instances of killings based on religious views. Same can be said in the modern world where every minor crime suddenly becomes major just because the criminal or the victim has a different skin tone.
