Wasn't BMW British? My car manufacturer knowledge's a bit rusty though, I could be wrong.

I believe they took over when they occupied Germany after WWII, same with Volkswagon.

BMW (Bayerische Motoren Werke), Audi, Volkswagen and Opel are all German car manufacturers.

BMW is German, but what guarantees that this car was manufactured by Germans? They probably have factories all over the world, this car could have been built somewhere else, where they clearly didn't follow the instructions rigorously.
