Cops here in Australia are chill and you can strike up a casual conversation with them if you can buck up the courage, but they don't f*ck around when things get real.

So I guess it's sort of an inherited trait from our British ancestors?

Thats how all cops should be like, they have to deal wi8th the general populace so they should atleast be cordial and nice but still be serious and efficient when stuff hits the fan.

They are. But like MasterofMetal said. When **** gets real they don't f*ck around. As a personal example, after a football match, I was waiting at a bus station. Coming down the street was my bus and closer to me was two mounted police. I stuck my arm out and they just looked at me and my mates and said 'Sorry lads, we're all full'. When we were on the buss, we saw the same cops riding around with batons out to keep the Ukrainian fans and British fans from fighting.

Sounds like a 'friendly' match =)

It would've been fine, but at the start when everyone, was entering the stadium, a gang of Ukrainian fans were baiting some of the British fans and trying to start a fight so the Police were on the ball.

That's "brutain" after all =)
