Let's see if any of you can solve this one without looking at Google.
Hint: Memorize all the numbers and try solving it without looking at the text. Trust me, you'll probably see it right away.
HEAD EXPLODES
I don`t know about the rest of you, but looking at the first part, I see that 100-97=3. Give the parents 1 each makes 99 and then one for yourself, 100. Now as for the rest of it, no idea how you found 99 xD. Not very good at maths, so yeah :P.
if you owe it, count with negative number. After purchasing shirt, you have + 3 - 100 = - 97 $. Even if you give them 1, you will still have - 49 - 49 + 1 = - 97 $ that's it!
I think you mean 49 + 49 - 1 which gives you 97 the original number. That tells you that you never had $1 missing in the first place.
So yeah, that's pretty much it.
It's not really a mathematical problem, it's really just a trick to fool the mind =)
It's the same, but in my opinion depth should be a negative value of what do you have now!
Why are you buying a $100 shirt in the first place?
with you duh
This isn't a real mathematical problem. You can't solve it because you have two unrelated variable and no defined problem. The 2 49 are your remaining debt while the 1 being the money you currently have. The sum and the 1 are not related to the amount of money you owe.
49+49= 98 - the amount of money you owe to your parents.
1 - the money you have left after your 2 transactions. (purchasing and reimbursing the 2$)
99- Unrelated sum. debt remaining + money left in your pocket? wtf?
A better equation would have been: Money Spent = Debt + Change
98 (100-2) being the amount of money you borrowed therefore it is negative.
-98 + 1 =97 don't see any problem here....
First equation: debt
100-2=98
Second equation: money left
50+50-97-2=1
If something isn't logical, it's probably wrong.
Darn you and your logic :P
I think mine was batter, and shorter.
shame genius
Wittgenstein is dead, if anyone could solve mathemathical probs, he was your man ;)
Yeah I don't see a problem here. There's no missing dollar, the wording of the "problem" is just confusing. Putting what you owe aside, just look at the numbers.
$50 + $50 = $100
$100 - $97 = $3
$1 to your Father
$1 to your Mother
$1 to yourself
TL;DR - There is no missing dollar.
i don't think the parents care were the 1 dollar went, but more when it comes back with it's 99 friends
