Well for power and research yes, because they that is fully allowed in the nuclear non-proliferation treaty which they signed.
so they have every right to develop nuclear technology for peaceful means.

They don't actually want nuclear weapons, and the tech they have couldn't do it anyways.
the whole reason they built that heavy water factory was because the U.S. went back on a deal to give them isotopes for treating cancer, they did it so they could make their own.
and their reactors aren't the proper type to mass produce enriched fuel- in order to produce enriched fuel they must shut the whole system down, in a reactor for enriching (like used in Israel) you can enrich and remove the rods while it is active.
Even Israel has said that the technology there poses no threat to them- they just apparently don't want Iran to have any nuclear technology (if they are backward they are easier to conquer).

its ironically Israel who illegally has nuclear technology and weapons and has threatened to use them not Iran
we just love screwing Iran over, its a hobby of ours since we removed their democratic government and put the shah in power. the fact that they are willing to negotiate with backstabbing sneaky jerks such as our leaders is actually quite amazing (if I were them I wouldn't do it)

I should mention I mean peaceful means.

I don't believe anybody should really have nukes, but that's not going to change anytime soon.

I'm all for allowing Iran to build nuclear based technology, not nuclear weapons though. There's enough nuclear weapons in the world but if they truly just want nuclear power and other civil applications for that type of technology then let them go ahead. It'll probably help boost the quality of life over there. Besides that, I'm generally pro-nuclear power anyway.

"Oooh, great USA, bless us with your allowance." Seriously? Who allowed you to have them? Of course such weapon is a thread to other countries, so they will try hard to not let you have them - but that is politics.

Why should we debate this? What would happen if you ask US public: "I think they should not be allowed, it is muslim country you know, dirty and unstable. They should be glad they are allowed to live..."

No wonder Iran wants them...

Well the majority of the U.S. is all for Iran having nuclear tech for peaceful means.
but I think we agree that really nobody should have nukes.
but Iran really doesn't want them

the irony of the debate is that none of the world powers asked them what their intentions were.

I think Iran should be allowed have nuclear weapons. Why? because they are sovereign nation that deserves the respect* that all sovereign nations deserves. The US need to start treating Iran like an actual country instead of like a terrorist state**.

------

*Let's be honest, they did their share of douchebag things... which makes them about as evil as every current nuclear power.

**It's basic human nature, keep treating them like they don't deserve respect, it takes away the incentive for them to act respectably.

How about give them thorium which cannot be used for nuclear weapons but provides much better and cleaner energy than uranium so that way they get their energy but don't have to concern people that have stockpilled a few too many nukes about possibly having the same technological advancement so they could still easily be wiped out.

No they shouldn't have an access to ANY nukes. They threatened Israel so they are EVIL and cannot be trusted with them. This is just a United Nations plot to harm Israel America should be ashamed.

Should Iran be allowed to create and posses nuclear weapons?

Should they even be allowed to develop nuclear technology?

Should more nations be allowed to develop nuclear technology at all?
